May 1 is a statutory holiday in the People's Republic of China.
It is usually supplemented by two other days to give the appearance of a three-day holiday, but not being statutory holidays the extra days have to be 'made up' by working either the preceding or following weekend.
In 2014, May 1 will fall on Thursday. So we will take Thursday May 1, Friday 2 May and Saturday 3 May off.
